BPUB is implementing Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) technology across our service area to modernize how we deliver electric and water services to our customers. This investment in smart grid technology will improve reliability, efficiency, and customer experience.
What is AMI?
Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) is a system of smart meters, communication networks, and data management systems that enables two-way communication between utilities and customers. Unlike traditional meters that require manual reading, AMI meters automatically transmit usage data, providing real-time information about your energy and water consumption.
Benefits for Customers
Daily Usage Data
Monitor your electric and water usage daily through your online account
Faster Outage Response
AMI automatically notifies BPUB of outages, reducing response times
Accurate Billing
Eliminate estimated bills with precise, automated meter readings
Leak Detection
Identify potential water leaks early through continuous usage monitoring
