Reports Integrated Resouces Plan
BPUB works to ensure it has enough generation and transmission capacity to reliably meet customer demand. To plan ahead, BPUB regularly completes a load forecast and an Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), typically every five years or as needed, to identify the least-cost mix of generation capacity, fuel supply, and transmission resources while meeting reliability requirements, managing risk, and maintaining flexibility as conditions change. BPUB’s 2024–2025 IRP is a 10-month collaborative planning effort that evaluates options such as natural gas, renewables, and energy storage using load forecasting, production-cost modeling, and scenario analysis, with multiple public workshops and ongoing stakeholder input. The final plan will outline adaptable infrastructure investments and procurement strategies designed to support long-term reliability, rate stability, environmental compliance, and regional economic growth.
